Short Story September is a month-long initiative from Dahlia Publishing. Our aim is to celebrate the short story form and encourage everyone to have a go at writing a short story while raising the profile of writers with published collections.

The project will consist of a dedicated blog that will seek to platform contemporary British short story writers in its first year. There is scope to develop this in future but for now I thought we’d begin close to home. The 30 featured writers will not be an exhaustive list, and will not be a judgement of work (it is by no means a list of the 30 best British short story writers, for example).

Every day, for thirty days we will publish the following:

  1. A profile of a short story writer
  2. A writing prompt, either through a visual or scenario
  3. A resource

You’ll also have the chance to win some fantastic prizes in our weekly competition supported by our generous friends.

Follow us on Twitter @dahliabooks and use the hashtag #ShortStorySept to join the conversation.

So sharpen those pencils, power up the laptop, let’s do this!
